Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 27 July 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") forms part of our Terms of Service and applies to everyone using Host Lint services. Its purpose is simple: to keep the platform safe, lawful and reliable for every client on it.
1. Prohibited content and activity
You must not use the Services to store, transmit, host or link to:
- Content that is unlawful in any jurisdiction applicable to you or to us
- Child sexual abuse material — reported immediately to law enforcement, with no notice to the account holder
- Content or conduct prohibited under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 or other applicable Pakistani law
- Malware, ransomware, exploit kits, phishing pages, or command-and-control infrastructure
- Content infringing copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights
- Material inciting violence, or harassing, threatening or defaming others
- Fraudulent schemes, fake storefronts, or counterfeit goods
- Credential-harvesting pages impersonating any organisation, including us
2. Email and anti-spam
Sending unsolicited bulk email through our infrastructure is prohibited, without exception. This includes purchased or scraped lists, and mail sent elsewhere that advertises a site hosted with us.
If you send marketing email you must have verifiable consent from every recipient, honour unsubscribe requests promptly, and identify yourself accurately in the message.
We apply outbound rate limits per mailbox and per domain. These exist to contain a compromised account before it damages the sending reputation that every client on the platform depends on. We may lower them temporarily where abuse is suspected.
3. Security
You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, network or account; probe or scan networks without authorisation; intercept traffic not intended for you; or attempt to circumvent resource limits, account isolation or authentication.
You are responsible for keeping applications you install — including WordPress, its plugins and themes — patched and current, except where we have agreed in writing to manage them for you. Outdated software is the most common cause of compromise we see. We may suspend a service that has been compromised until it is cleaned, in order to protect others.
4. Resource use
You must not run processes that consume disproportionate CPU, memory, disk I/O or network capacity to the detriment of others on shared infrastructure. The following are not permitted on shared hosting:
- Cryptocurrency mining of any kind
- Public file-sharing, torrent trackers, or bulk media distribution
- Using the account primarily as offsite backup or archival storage
- Open proxies, public VPN endpoints, or open DNS resolvers
- Long-running unattended processes not related to a hosted website
Dedicated and virtual servers are yours to use as you see fit within the law and this policy; the shared-hosting restrictions above do not apply to them, though network abuse provisions do.
Where usage is a capacity problem rather than an abuse problem, we will contact you about moving to a more suitable arrangement before taking any action.
5. Reporting abuse
Report suspected violations to abuse@hostlint.com. Please include URLs, message headers, timestamps and IP addresses — complete reports get acted on far faster.
6. Enforcement
Enforcement is at our sole discretion, and we may act without prior notice where we judge the risk to others, to our infrastructure or to our reputation to warrant it. Our response is otherwise proportionate to the severity and the risk to others:
- Notice — for most issues, we contact you and give a reasonable window to fix it
- Suspension — where the issue is active, ongoing, or presents risk to others
- Immediate suspension without notice — for active spam runs, phishing, malware distribution, or anything presenting an urgent legal or security risk
- Termination — for serious or repeated breaches
We will normally tell you what we did and why, except where law enforcement, a legal obligation, or the risk of further harm makes that inadvisable. Suspension or termination for breach of this policy does not entitle you to any refund, credit or service-level remedy, and does not limit any other right we have, including recovery of costs we incur as a result of your breach.
7. Changes
We may update this policy as threats and legal obligations change. Material changes will be notified to the email address on your account.
